German beer: not only clean, but pure.

The world’s oldest food ordinance has lost nothing of its relevance: The German Purity Law, in accordance with which German brewers have been producing their beer from the very beginnings, is still in force. The German Brewers’ Federation (www.brauer-bund.de)
therefore annually celebrates the Day of German Beer. At the same time, also at annual intervals, an “Ambassador of Beer” is named. In 2007, the honour went to Federal Minister Horst Seehofer. As a symbolic token of his new office, the politician was presented with the glass honour award created by RASTAL.

RASTAL as a traditional promoter of German beer culture particularly appreciated the honour of donating the medal for this year’s award winner. The award, which is made from glass, has a diameter of 25 cm. Its round shape adorned with the colours white, blue and gold symbolise the world of beer. Stylised pictograms of barley, hop and water represent the components of beer and thus also the basic ingredients of the German Purity Law. Since the number of beers brewed in accordance with the German Purity Law has been declining for years, RASTAL has developed an Exclusive Glass concept designed to promote medium-sized companies. RASTAL’s commitment to beer was recognised with the Bavarian beer medal presented by the “Verband der Privaten Braueren Bayerns” (Association of Private Breweries of Bavaria) in November of last year.
