"Quality needs a form“: To evaluate the quality of this form is the intent and purpose of the “red dot award: product design”. Since 1955, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen (“North Rhine-Westphalia Design Centre”) has been marking outstanding international product design with its famous dot. More and more companies register their products for the competition: The Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has received a total of 3,203 entries from 51 countries, which is the best proof of the prestige and recognition attached to the “red dot” quality seal worldwide. The STACK! all-round tumbler has won the prestigious red dot for its high design quality. STACK!, the stackable general-purpose tumbler by RASTAL, is a "high riser" that delivers what it promises from bottom to top. Its outstanding design feature is the sophisticated base area with a dual function: The slim bottom not only ensures an elegant and secure grip, but also forms an inside stacking ring which is extremely tough and resilient so that many glasses can be stacked on top of each other, easily and safely. STACK! tumblers will save place and yet catch the eye wherever they come into play. By applying a sophisticated manufacturing technique, which consists in cracking off the glass body in a specific way, a variety of filling capacities are obtained without sacrificing stackability.
The “red dot award” is the fourth prize awarded to the STACK! all-round tumbler. STACK! can already pride itself on having been honoured with the iF product design ward 2008, the Designpreis BRD 2008 Nominiert (“nomination for the 2008 Design Award of the Federal Republic of Germany”) and the Good Design Award 2007.
For RASTAL as a glassware expert, these design awards mean both recognition and motivation. In RASTAL’s corporate philosophy, modern design is the measure for products of everyday use. Carsten Kehrein, chief designer at RASTAL, has developed the award-winning glass with his team. Established quality seals such as the “red dot” help to communicate the achievements of both companies and designers: Successful participation in design competitions thus turns product quality into an experienceable event.
