Westerwald stoneware The so-called Kannenbäckerland, "Pot-bakers' Country", lies in south-west Westerwald and in its centre is Höhr-Grenzhausen. With only a few reservations it can be assumed that ceramic articles were made here in pre and early historic times. Stoneware made to high handicraft standards was produced here in the late 16th century when the native craft blossomed thanks to the influence of immigrant potters.
