SUPERSTRONG glasses by RASTAL were specially developed with the needs of hospitality and catering professionals in mind: the thermal hardening process (tempering) applied to the glasses makes them extremely resistant to breakage. At the client’s request, SUPERSTRONG glasses can be decorated with eco-friendly, organic inks.
THE TEMPERING PROCESS.
Once the melting and manufacturing processes have been completed, the glass undergoes a rapid cooling process (quenching) that causes the outer surface to solidify whilst the inside initially remains liquid. Due to this difference in physical state, the outer surface of the glass is put into compression and the inner surface, which is thus prevented from shrinking in the further cooling process, is put into tension. This interplay between the two opposite forces closes tiny microcracks on the glass surface, thus increasing the density and thus the strength of the glass by multiple times.

High impact resistance of SUPERSTRONG glasses as demonstrated by pendulum impact testing performed in accordance with DIN EN 12980.
Excellent resistance to temperature changes as per DIN EN ISO 7459: DT ≥ 100K
In case of breakage, tempered glass shatters into small, blunt fragments with rounded edges (not into sharp shards!), thus reducing the risk of injury.
